Getting Started with Namesies

Getting started with Namesies is quick, and you can be rating names in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Create your account

To use Namesies, you must have an account. Sign-up here and verify your email.

Email verification helps keep your account secure and makes sure your progress is tied to you.

Step 2: Start Rating

Namesies gives you three ways to rate names, depending on how you want to decide:

  • One at a Time: Great for a slower pace and focused rating.
  • Head-to-Head: Compare two names directly and choose your favorite.
  • Rapid Fire: Move quickly through many names in a short session.

If you want to learn more about an individual name in One at a Time, click the info button for more details.

On each rating page, you can switch genders to the one you want to rate right now.

Step 3: See Your Progress

Your Summary page shows you how many names you've rated and your totals for likes, maybes, and dislikes for both boys and girls. This is a great place to see how far you've come. As you rate more names, Summary gives you a broad view of your highlights across both genders.

If you want to see score-level detail, go to Favorites. There you can see which names you like, which ones you are on the fence about, and which ones you do not.

Step 4: Build momentum with your partner

Namesies works best when both partners participate, and inviting them is simple.

Go to Account, find the invite partner section, enter their email address, and click Invite.

They will get an invite link. Once they create an account and accept your invite, you can both start rating names.

After that, you will see a new section in your sidebar (or menu button on mobile) with your partner's favorites and your shared scores.

Step 5: Build your List

Use My Top Names to curate your own shortlist of top names.

You can add names manually or import your likes.

It is easy to like many names while rating. My Top Names is where you keep track of the best of the best.

What to expect next

You do not need to do everything in one sitting. Just start rating.

Your Summary page, favorites, and shared insights become more useful with each session.
